Album Description Multi Dimensional Warrior summarizes the soulful, spiritual side of a sonic pioneer who has made a multi-platinum career out of defying all attempts to be categorized. Divided into two halves for two distinct listening experiences, the first disc gathers 14 powerful songs with vocals, while disc two consists of 14 inspiring instrumental tracks. Emphasizing the high level of musicianship the band always has been known for, this thematically arranged collection is a rare opportunity to experience the personal side of Santana, a timeless musical innovator who has sold more than 90 million albums, and counting, worldwide.

Very Pleased with This Release! December 28, 2008 G. Kennett (Delaware) I am a latin-styled percussionist, and a long time fan of Santana - I folow and know all of his music. The only thing I can say to possibly, dispute what some have said is, that I guess people look for different things in musical content, which is balanced against their expectations, before they hear the first note. The second CD is one Carlos provides, that does include some of his best instrumentals previously, recorded. So, don't expect much new there simply, great Santana music. The first CD sounds as if they are new productions, and they do sound similar to Carlos Santana's work from the 80's, with Alex Ligertwood (??) singing. Maybe, some are looking for something that's so new, that it doesn't sound like the artist you know, or isn't typical of his style. What can I tell you? You gotta' expect this as no surprise coming from Santana. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've been listening to Carlos Santana since I first saw him in the movie Woodstock in 1969 and have yet to be disappointed with any of this work. This includes Multi-Dimensional Warrior. I just recently witness another fantastic concert and loved every minute of it. The two-disc set is great. The first disc sets off the second disc beautifully. I love both, but prefer the second disc. It shows the more mellow side of Carlos, which I believe he should do more of. It shows off his wonderful talents with the guitar. This CD is a GREAT companion to anything else you might have from Santana. You will NOT be disappointed.
boring and formulaic November 19, 2008 Michele Reynolds 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I like the fact that Santana has collaborated with vocalists on his recent cds, but this release is the most uninspired of his last 3 albums. The songs featuring vocalists are boring in their "smooth jazz" approach. I feel he doesn't have much more to give, and is just going through the motions on the instrumental songs, as well,(same old, same old). Time to retire, or at least take a break to get the creative juices flowing.
the VERY best of November 18, 2008 David W. Mack 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You may not have ever heard any of these songs on the radio but this is Carlos Santana at his absolute best. Disc one is with vocals, disc two is all instrumental. Disc two has some of the most beautiful guitar work I have EVER heard. The songs span Santanas entire career and have all been released previously but the songs play like they were made to go together. If you like Santana at all, just buy this.
Multi-Dimensional Mystical Musician November 18, 2008 Amaranth (Northern California) "Multi-Dimensional Warrior" is Carlos Santana's picks of his greatest hits encompassing his years at Columbia Records, Arista, and Legacy. It's a fascinating compilation, with styles ranging from blues rock to psychedelic to easy listening. Santana had the enviable task of exploring the archives, and this collection is perfect for the beginner. It's double the pleasure with the first CD having vocals, and the second CD having instrumentals. Carlos Santana's family emigrated from Jalisco, Mexico, to the San Francisco Bay Area. It was there that Santana listened to Jerry Garcia play the guitar, and that inspired him. With hits like "Oye como va" and "Black Magic Woman", Santana made his mark on pop music and Latin rock. "Multi-Dimensional Warrior" has well-known songs like "Samba pa ti" and "Europa",but most of the songs haven't hit the airwaves. They are lesser known gems. The opening song, "Let there be light",blends Eastern sounds with gospel. "Spirit" ends with an African chant honoring Nelson Mandela. "Saja/Right On" is pure psychedelic rock. "Right Now","Life is for Living","Somewhere in Heaven" and "Praise" are inspirational, uplifting songs. On the second CD,the opening song "Curacion (Sunlight on the Water)" sounds like smooth jazz. There's the lilting "Bella" and "Full Moon." There are Mexican flavors, like a spicy mole,in "En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor","El Farol" and "Luz, Amor Y Vida." "Multi-Dimensional Warrior" is an essential for any world music collection. Carlos Santana rocks!
